Writing in the Margins workshops are held at various locations, including the Calgary Sexual Health Centre, and Mount Royal University’s lovely campus, with thanks to Design4Change for their help in finding us such a welcoming, usable, beautiful space. The Calgary Sexual Health Centre is easily accessible by train, and there is ample parking for our workshops on the MRU campus.
We offer a variety of workshops, including:
Building Confidence: Working With and Through Anxiety
Writing Your Personal User’s Manual
and more!
These workshops are also open to creative writers who hope to develop their writing skills in a supportive and welcoming structured writing group, or those creative writers who want help developing a specific aspect of a character or characters.
In addition to our regular workshops, Writing in the Margins is available for tailored workshops for your company or non-profit. Specializing in workshops that deal with identity and community, a Writing in the Margins presence at your staff retreat or event can offer a unique opportunity for your staff or membership. These tailored workshops can also be an ideal opportunity for your staff or membership to learn new coping and communication strategies, and can decrease stress in the workplace and increase communication among groups. Contact Tiffany Sostar at tiffany @ writinginthemargins.ca or at 403-701-1489 to discuss pricing and availability.
All Writing in the Margins workshops are queer-friendly and gender-inclusive, and welcome participants of all abilities, ethnicities, educational and experience levels. Whether it’s your first time writing, or a return to a familiar practice, Writing in the Margins offers a safe, welcoming, inclusive space for exploration and expression. There is never any obligation to share your just-written work with the group, and confidentiality is maintained in all workshops.
